I joined in 1994 as an Assistant Accountant, steadily rising to the Head of Finance in charge of all finance departments in East Africa.

Gilfilian is a airconditioning and refrigeration company based in Nairobi, Kenya.

I joined in 1992 as an Accounts Assistant and left as the Assistant Accountant in 1994.

NMS is a parastatal under the Ministry of Health mandated to procure and distribute medical supplies to government health institutions in Uganda.

Due to business expansion, the client upgraded the system from Navision2.5 to Navision Attain 3.60 in 2003 in order to benefit from the newly launchedwarehouse management module. In 2006, the system was further upgraded toMicrosoft Business Solutions- Navision 4.0 where I also played an active roleas a financial adviser.

Since the operations were manual, various development partners funded a computerisation project with the goal to improve efficiency at the ministry. The project covered all offices across Uganda entailing designing and customisation of complex government accounting functionalityand reports.

• Assess the financial management capacity of theindividual organisations, vis-à-vis the funds expected from DANIDA.
• Assess any previous financial managementperformance vis-à-vis stipulated requirements for financial transparency,accountability etc., if applicable.
• Recommend improvements to the financial managementcapacities of the organisations.
• Brief stakeholders on the findings.
  
• Prepare and submit a comprehensive report incorporating stakeholder's comments.

 

DANIDAPROJECTS CLOSURE, ERITREA

(Public Sector- Assessment and Closure of FundedProjects in Agriculture, Education & Health)

The objective was to provide financial and accounting services supportto close projects that were ongoing when the embassy was closed in 2003.

 

The keyobjectives of the final audits are to:

 

• Confirm the overall amount of DANIDA fundsdisbursed to the programmes.
• Confirm the overall amount of DANIDA funds spenton programme activities, as well as the amounts spent on individual budgetlines or sub-components.
• Confirm the amount of unspent funds, if any.
• Provide the relevant Eritrean and Danishauthorities with an assessment of the financial situation pertaining to theprogrammes.
• Prepare closure of accounts and where this is notpossible, recommend the way forward for closing the accounts, and facilitatethe process as far as possible.
